Ministry of sleep – built Nov 2016

A 100 year old structure in the heart of the city needed to be renovated as a mattress showroom. Though the building had not been in use forĀ  while, its thick masonry walls were mostly in good shape and it had spacious well lit interiors. Our design proposed minimum intervention on the interiors along with a new facade.

The new facade showcases the existing stone masonry while including a modern system of construction as a brand new layer in front of it. This new layer includes a chajja and rainwater drainage, new grills in front of the existing windows and a unifying green band of creepers running horizontally along the length of the facade.
